Chache Lavi – Seeking Life

Our experience has shown that while women are the backbone of Haitian society, they have little access to financial or business support. Even when they do, they are often hindered in their capacity to develop their business due to lack of self-esteem, gender issues, limited knowledge of their rights, the importance of hygiene, nutrition and family planning. In order to help address this, we have, in partnership with Foundation Enfant Jesus, launched a new initiative in Central & Southern Haiti called Chache Lavi; Kreyol for Seeking Life.

Women entering this program will learn about all of the above before being introduced to the fundamentals of business planning, budgeting, pricing, market identification and access to finance. They will then continue to be mentored and supported throughout the start-up stage of their business.

Chache Lavi is designed on the basis of a full circle approach; its main purpose being to allow for human development which is autonomous, comprehensive and sustainable. Through Chache Lavi we want to encourage a sense of initiative, foster an entrepreneurial spirit, promote production and agricultural transformation, encourage local consumption patterns, stimulate collective participation and consolidate community development.
